Ruthann Swanson received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration in 1992 from Oakland Community College where she was awarded the Outstanding Business Student Award. She also received a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Walsh College in 1994 and was awarded a Presidential Scholarship. She received her certificate as a Certified Public Accountant in 2003.

In 1995, Ruthann joined Swad & Company becoming a shareholder in 2019. Over Ruthann's career with Swad & Company, she has worked with closely-held businesses and their owners providing tax, estate, retirement, and general business planning, as well as financial audit and review services for these companies. She has overseen numerous union fund audits for clients and has done due diligence work for the buyers of multi-million dollar companies. She has provided litigation support on a variety of issues with closely held businesses. She also represents clients with various federal, state, and local taxing agencies and enjoys management consulting with leaders in business.

Ruthann is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. She also serves as a mediator for the Business Mediation Network.
